What is website sitemap file?
Sitemaps are text files containing a list of all web pages that exist on your site. It is important that you create a comprehensive sitemap as it will help Google and other search engines crawl your site better and that might mean more traffic coming your website in future.
How to make sitemap file work for Google Blogger?
Google uses sitemap.xml for better index of your website, which is different from yahoo or other search engines using sitemap.html file. The sitemap file, sitemap.xml or sitemap.html should be upload to the root directory of your website and you will not have any problem to upload sitemap.xml or sitemap.html to the root directory of your website.
But for your Google blogger account, you will have problem uploading the sitemap.xml. Without sitemap.xml being used by Google index system, your blogger pages will not get full benefit from Google search engine. Fortunately, there is a method that you can use to fix this problem. You can use the default file, rss.xml or atom.xml as the sitemap.xml. but rss.xml or atom.xml only shows most recently 26 pages, which is also a big problem because many older pages cannot be indexed. Here we have a simple solution to fix this problem as follows:
1. If you do not have Google Webmaster Tools account, you need to register it from the following link:

2. Log into your Google Webmasters Tools account and add your blog.
3. Once your blog is added to Google Blogger, go to sitemap section and submit a sitemap by using the following instructions:
Use:
atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500
instead of
sitemap.xml, rss.xml, or atom.xml.
Now you can expect to see more pages in your blog indexed in one or two days and more traffic coming from your blog pages in the near future.
